St Johnstone | Preview

We are back in cinch Premiership action this Wednesday when we take on St. Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, kick off 7.45pm.

The teams have met twice in the league this season already when a win each in the previous encounters.

The first meeting at McDiarmid back in October saw Saints win 3-1 with Chris Kane getting a double and Stevie May putting them three up before Ryan Sweeney pulled one back.

It was a different story in December at the Kilmac Stadium at Dundee dominated and took all three points thanks to a Danny Mullen strike.

Saints are currently on a run of 10 defeats in a row while Dundee come into the match on the back of victory at Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup.

Team News

Jordan Marshall will miss the match through injury while Cillian Sheridan and Lee Ashcroft remain long-term injuries.

Stats | Dee Archive

It’s our second visit to Perth this season for our 149th league encounter with St Johnstone.

Dundee head into this match, looking for our 60th league victory over the Perth Saints while out opponents will be wanting to notch win 54 against us.

Our last match vs St Johnstone brought us our first win in five matches over them, and in all competitions, our first win in seven.

It also ended our worst ever run of defeats in this fixture when we went a long seven matches without a single point.

Should Paul McGowan play, he will join Ally Donaldson and Bobby Wilson in second spot of the all time appearances in the league Vs the Saints with 19 appearances.

Our memory match goes back to the 2016-17 season.

Dundee hosted St Johnstone at home with our visitors looking to go joint 4th in the League with Hearts while the Dark Blues were hoping for a win to potentially move us up to 7th in the table.

The match was dominated by Dundee and this reflected on the 3-0 scoreline at the final whistle.

This win gave The Dee a five-point gap between us and Hamilton in the play-off spot.
