Paul Hartley watched his side come away from the Global Energy Stadium with all three points yesterday after a professional performance saw Dundee run out 3-1 winners.
The manager gave his thoughts on the match at full time, saying “It was important we got off to a good start, the same as last season. It’s a tough venue to come to and I felt they threw a lot at us today, in terms of balls into the box but I felt as a team our organisation and discipline was terrific and we took our chances when they came along.”
“We’ve got another tough fixture next week against Rangers but I think it’s just a terrific start and we need to try build on it. I’m really pleased for the players, their attitudes was spot on and it’s a nice journey down the road for us.”
Dundee led 2-0 at the break but Paul McGowan added a third in the second half after a smart breakaway involving Rory Loy and Michael Duffy, “We said at half time, I felt the game would open up and I felt we could counter them. I’m really pleased for Gowser to get that goal. He got a goal last week and we wanted our midfielders to get more goals and chip in. I thought O’Hara was excellent today in terms of getting in the box and his energy. He got us our first two goals and I’m pleased for Rory also getting off the mark early in the season.”
