Niall is a Dee

Dundee Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Niall McGinn on a 18 month deal.

The 67 times capped Northern Ireland international has joined from Aberdeen where he played over 350 times across two spells with the Pittodrie club.

He started his career with Dungeonon Swifts in his home country before a move to Derry City.

After an impressive season with Derry he moved to Celtic. He would go on to make 36 appearances for the Glasgow side while also spending time on loan to Brentford before making a permanent switch to Aberdeen in 2012.

He’s been a key figure for Aberdeen over the past 10 seasons. In 2017 he had a brief spell away when he signed for Gwangju FC in South Korea.

During his time with The Dons he won the League Cup in 2013/14.

His international career has seen him earn 67 caps. His first international goal came in World Cup qualification when he scored the opener away to Portugal in a 1-1 draw. He was selected for Euro 2016 and scored in the win over Ukraine. His most recent cap came in October of 2021.

He joins on an 18 month deal and will go straight into the squad for Wednesday’s match with St. Johnstone.
