Motherwell | Preview

Dundee will travel to Fir Park this Saturday to take on Motherwell for the second time in as many weeks, kick off 3pm.

A fortnight ago it was The Steelmen on the road as Dundee won 1-0 in the Premier Sports Cup thanks to a Lee Ashcroft headed goal.

Assistant Manager Dave Mackay spoke to the press ahead of the match, “They are tough opposition, it’s a tough game but it’s one that we are more than capable of winning.”

“Hopefully we can get our first (league) win. We have a couple of points on the board but it is important to turn those draws in victories. Hopefully that starts on Saturday.”

“It’s fresh in the memory from a couple of weeks ago. If we play to our potential we can beat most teams in this league and Motherwell is no different. If go there we play to the same standard, the quality and the energy that we did here two weeks ago then we can win the game.”

Team news

Cillian Sheridan and Cammy Kerr have returned to training this week. Danny Mullen remains a long term injury.

Stats | Dee Archive

These two clubs clash in the league for the 207th time this weekend.
Dundee hold the overall advantage with 91 victories compared to Motherwell’s 73 but away from home, it’s the Steelmen who have the most wins with 46 to our 34.
Dundee, of course, have defeated Motherwell already this season in the Premier Sports Cup but we will be looking to six-game losing streak and eight-games without a win against ‘Well in the league.
Of course, the most dominant display we have produced against our opponents in recent times, we only have to look back to February 2017 when we demolished them 5-1 at Fir Park – with all our goals coming in the first half!
