  • Celtic’s first visit to Dens Park was on November 25th 1899 which The Celts won 2-1
  • Dundee took in gate receipts of £252 from the 7,000 crowd at that first visit by Celtic
  • Dundee’s first win over Celtic at Dens came on March 21st 1903 when a penalty from Jimmy Sharp and a goal form DFC Hall of Fame inductee gave The Dee a 2-0 win
  • That victory came after the original game on November 8th was abandoned after 85 minutes with Dundee leading 1-0. Celtic were challenging strongly for the title at the time and the match was abandoned after they successfully appealed against the failing light to the officials
  • Dundee last Dens Park victory against Celtic came on September 24th 1988 when Tommy Coyne scored his first goal of the season to secure the 1-0 win
  • Celtic are looking to finish the league season unbeaten, a feat that was last achieved by Rangers in the 18 game top flight in 1898/99
  • Dundee last defeated Celtic home and away in the same season in 1987/88
  • Two former Dees, Tommy Gemmell and Jimmy Johnstone were voted into Celtic’s greatest ever team by the supporters in 2002
  • Former Celtic players Alec McNair, Tommy Gemmell, Jim Duffy, Barry Smith and Paul Hartley have managed The Dee while Gordon Strachan is the only ex-Dee to have managed Celtic
  • Former Dundee manager Alec McNair holds the record for the Scottish League titles as a player having won 12 with Celtic between 1905 and 1922
