Wighton joins Hearts

Dundee Football Club can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with Heart of Midlothian for the transfer of Craig Wighton for an undisclosed fee.

A product of our youth academy, Craig made his first team debut as a second half substitute away to Cowdenbeath in October 2013. Shortly after making his debut, he became Dundee’s youngest ever scorer. He started at Dens against Raith Rovers on November 9th 2013 and two minutes into the second half he nodded home Ryan Conroy’s cross for his first goal for the club at the age of just 16.

He spent the next five years in and around the first team making just short of 100 appearances for the club.

His crowning moment in Dark Blue came on the 2nd of May 2016 when he scored the winner against Dundee United in the 93rd minute in the match when our neighbours relegation from the Premiership was confirmed.

Craig leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Dundee FC.
