Training camp comes to an end

Dundee ended the pre-season training camp with a match against Scunthorpe United this afternoon at the English sides La Mange training base.

James McPake’s side were put through another tough test in the Spanish heat with another good performance from the side.

Dundee started with Calum Ferrie between the sticks with a back four of Cammy Kerr, Jordan McGhee, Jordon Forster and Jordan Marshall. Jamie Ness, Shaun Byrne and Josh Mulligan were in midfield with Paul McGowan and Max Anderson offering support for Andrew Nelson.

It was almost the perfect start for the Dundee side when Max Anderson’s low shot found it’s way past the Scunthorpe keeper but was cleared from the line after just 35 seconds.

Scunthorpe took the lead after 10 minutes when cross from left is turned in at back post but it wasn’t long before Dundee were level.

A nice passage of play was ended with McGowan smashing in from 25 yards to make it 1-1.

Ferrie had a couple of saves before Scunthorpe retook the lead before the break. A ball played over the top found a Scunthorpe player with space and he put it in the net from a tight angle.

Dundee had the better of the second half chances with first Forster coming close when he headed over from a free kick.

Former Dee Andy Dales then had a chance for the English side but it went just wide of the post.

Substitutes Declan McDaid and Lyall Cameron then combined but after good play from the winger to cut it back for Cameron the shot was blocked.

The final chance as both team showed signs of the hard work in the unforgiving conditions fell to Craig Curran after good link up play between Mulligan and Cameron then found Curran in space but his shot was held.

Starting line up – Ferrie, Kerr, McGhee (Fisher), Ness (Cameron), Forster (McDaid), Byrne (Robertson), Nelson (Curran), McGowan (Moore), Marshall, Anderson (Todd), Mulligan.
