St. Johnstone – Fast Facts

  • Dundee’s first visit to McDiarmid Park was for the Forfarshire Cup Final on February 24th 1989. Goals from Stuart Beedie, Alan Campbell and Keith Wright gave The Dee a 3-2 victory over St Johnstone
  • Dundee’s first league match at McDiarmid Park was a remarkable 4-4 draw with St Johnstone on December 2nd 1992. Ten man Dundee came back from 4-2 down with Morten Weighorst making his debut and Duncan Campbell in goal after Paul Mathers was sent off

  • McDiarmid Park is St Johnstone’s third ground having previously played at the Recreation Grounds and Muirton Park.

  • Dundee’s highest win against St Johnstone is 6-1 which they have recorded three times in 1938, 1963 and 1974
  • Season 1963/64 saw Dundee defeat The Saints 6-1 at Muirton in the league and 5-1 at Dens in the Summer Cup
  • Season 1963/64 also saw Dundee defeat St Johnstone 2-1 in the league at Dens in April after the initial match a month earlier was abandoned after 63 minutes due to flooding with The Saints leading 1-0
