Scottish Cup – Match Preview Kilmarnock

Match Preview – Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock vs Dundee

Saturday 20th January

3pm kick-off

 BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park

Scottish Gas Scottish Cup Fourth Round

Our last match of 2023 was our 2-2 draw away at Kilmarnock in the cinch Premiership and our first match of 2024 will be tomorrow, 20th January, away to Kilmarnock this time in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup. We enter this year’s Scottish Cup at the fourth round stage and face fellow Premiership side Kilmarnock. It is a 3pm kick-off at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park.

It is the first match back for both sides after the winter break and both will be looking to advance to the fifth round of the competition.

Team News

Diego Pineda, Antonio Portales are both ruled out with injury. Aaron Donnelly and Ricki Lamie are both injury concerns and will be assessed before Saturday’s match.

Tony Docherty

“Having a good cup run as well as retaining our SPFL status is a big thing, and we will be endeavouring as much as we can. Its going to be difficult in the cup. You need to play difficult teams and difficult venues to start with and I don’t think you’d get a more difficult one, outside the old firm, than Kilmarnock. We know the task, we’ve just played them, its our most recent game. So we know the task ahead of us and we know we are going to have to be at our best and do a lot of things right to progress in the cup.”

Curtis Main

“Having a good cup run can be a big positive in a season for a team. If you can build momentum in a cup, it generates an extra buzz around the place. Even if you are winning games in the league, that cup fever can build a real positive environment, and it can give everyone an extra lift. If you can do that and marry it with the league and get the results in both, it’s really good. I’ve had that in the past and I hope we can do it here as well.”
