Rangers – Match preview

Rangers – Match Preview

Tomorrow, Sunday 17th March, we are back at home as we host Rangers at The Scot Foam Stadium. It is a 12 noon kick-off on Sunday.

Rangers come to Dundee after competing in the Europa League on Thursday night against Benfica. Rangers already have one trophy in the cabinet this season, after winning the Viaplay Cup in December and will be looking to add more before the season is out. They are also in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup and are looking to take back the league title from Celtic in a very tight title race. This is the third time Dundee have played Rangers this season with the Glasgow side winning the first two fixtures. Rangers won 5-0 in the first meeting at The Scot Foam Stadium in November. Then in December Rangers won 3-1 at Ibrox, despite Amadou Bakayoko opening the scoring for The Dee that day.

Team News

Jordan McGhee, Trevor Carson, Josh Mulligan, Zach Robinson, Ryan Howley and Diego Pineda all remain injured and will miss the match with injury. Owen Beck is in an injury doubt and will be assessed before kick-off.

Tony Docherty

“Rangers are a fantastic team who are coming here with a title challenge. But we have got our own agenda, and we can only affect what we can affect. Rangers are a big team with a big budget and very good players, but they’ve got weaknesses as well and we will need to exploit those. We are very much looking forward to the game.”

Aaron Donnelly

“Everyone is really excited. Playing against the old firm is always good. Our fans will show up in their numbers. We know we have to be disciplined on Sunday when we get the ball. We will go down to Dens Park with a game plan and hopefully get the three points.”
