Dundee Reserves fell to a narrow defeat against Queen’s Park Reserves in a hard-fought encounter at Lochinch.
The match began with Queen’s Park asserting early pressure, and their efforts paid off in the 11th minute when a break down the wing resulted in a low cross into the box for a simple finish, giving them a 1-0 lead. Dundee responded with determination, coming close in the 18th minute when Ashton Leiper’s pinpoint cross found Corrigan in the box, but the goalkeeper made a superb save to deny the header.
Dundee’s persistence was rewarded in the 41st minute when Bruce slipped the ball through to Fin Allan, who calmly slotted past the Queen’s Park keeper to level the match at 1-1. The teams headed into halftime on even terms.
The second half saw both sides battling for dominance. Early on, Queen’s Park had a chance from a free kick, but Dundee’s wall stood firm. Substitutions were made by both teams in the hope of finding a winner, and the match appeared to be heading for a draw until Queen’s Park struck late. In the 82nd minute, their number 12 spun brilliantly with his back to goal and fired the ball home, making it 2-1.
Dundee pushed for an equalizer in the dying moments, earning a free kick from a promising position. However, the delivery was cleared, and the final whistle confirmed a 2-1 victory for Queen’s Park.
It was a spirited effort by Dundee, but they will be disappointed to leave empty-handed after coming so close to securing a result.
