Queen of the South Reserves 0 – 1 Dundee FC Reserves
9/4/24
Cinch Reserve League
Palmerston Park
A young Dundee Reserve side travelled to Dumfries this afternoon to take on Queen of the South Reserves in the cinch Reserve League.
It was The Dee with the first chance of the match when a quickly taken free-kick from Craik found Mutale, who tried to turn it in but his shot was saved. Dundee came close again shortly after, Hunter found Allan, who then picked out Mohammed, but the keeper saved the resulting effort.
Just three minutes after Dundee got their goal through Mutale. Mutale received the ball in the box, turned and fired across goal into the back of the net.
The home side tried to draw level before half-time, but Donald got in front of a long-range shot and deflected it over the bar. This meant The Dee went into the break leading 0-1.
Queen of the South started the second half brightly, having two early chances but one went wide of the post before Welsh made a good save.
Dundee then had a series of chances. Craik had a chance, he got a shot away but the keeper saved. Davies-Browne then sent in a corner to Fin Allan but he couldn’t turn it in. Then Allan had a close-range effort denied by the keeper.
The home side looked for a late equaliser but Gray made an excellent goal-line clearance with a header to deny them. Dundee closed out the match and took all three points, which saw them move up to second in the reserve league.
