Queen of the South’s Season So Far

Queen of the South’s season started in the Betfred Cup and they qualified out of their group as one of the best runners-up after wins over Stranraer, Clyde and Edinburgh City and a defeat to group winners Motherwell.

In the second round, Queens met St Johnstone in Dumfries and were unlucky to go out 4-2 after extra time.

In the Irn-Bru Cup Queens beat Stenhousemuir 3-0 at Ochilview to set up a meeting with Irish side Crusaders and in an exciting game at Palmerston sent the visitors back across the Irish side after a 4-3 defeat.

A trip to Methil in the quarter-finals was as far at The Doonhamers went as East Fife would progress with a 2-0 win.

In the Ladbrokes Championship, Queens have flitted in and out the play off spots thanks largely to the goals of Stephen Dobbie who hit 25 goals by December. Results against fellow play off challengers have been decent with a win over Dundee United, two draws with Ross County and a 5-0 victory over Ayr United, in which Dobbie scored four, who have lead the table for large parts of the campaign.

Queen’s Scottish Cup campaign started in November against Highland League side Formartine United and set up the meeting with Dundee with a 4-1 win at Palmerston.
