  5. Go straight across the first mini roundabout

  7. Follow this road to the next mini roundabout which is the entrance to the car park on the left

From the West

  1. Follow the A75 until you come to the “A76 Dumfries” turn off
  2. Follow instructions from 5 above

Car Parking/Bus Parking

Queen of the South have suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles Street /King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location. Car parking is available in the Arena car park; alternatively there is plenty of other on & off street parking available around the stadium.

The weather forecast is for sleet/light snow during travel time and for the duration of the match. This could have an effect on travel times. Please leave plenty of time to travel safely to the ground.

There are no known roadworks around Dumfries that would affect travel times to Palmerston Park but fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation and of any other delays.

By Train:

All trains come into Dumfries at the same station.

There are direct trains from Glasgow and there is also the option of coming via Carlisle. Alternatively, it can sometimes be more convenient to get off the train at Lockerbie and get the bus or taxi into Dumfries.

There is a taxi rank at the station, and the ground is approximately 5 minutes by car.

Walking to the ground from the station takes around 20 minutes, using the most direct route:

  1. Come out of the station on the west side, into the main car park (directly outside the front of the Station Hotel)
  2. Walk round to the right of the Station Hotel and turn right onto Lovers Walk.
  3. Follow Lovers walk round the corner to the traffic lights at the T-junction
  4. Turn left at the traffic lights onto the Edinburgh Road
  5. Follow this road into town and round the corner (keeping Greyfriars church on your right) down onto Buccleuch Street
  6. Continue down to the bottom of Buccleuch Street
  7. Follow the On Foot directions below

The alternative is to go through the centre of town. This will take slightly longer but has more options for refreshment along the way:

  1. Come out of the station on the west side, into the main car park (directly outside the front of the Station Hotel)
  2. Walk up the hill, to the left of the Station Hotel, to the traffic lights
  3. Turn right at the traffic lights onto St Marys Street
  4. Continue on St Marys Street, past the Cairndale Hotel and council buildings.
  5. Continue onto English Street and follow this up the hill into town
  6. From here, you can take any street, as long as you keep walking in the same direction, you will come onto the High Street
  7. Follow the On Foot directions below

On Foot:

The stadium is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Dumfries. From the High Street, head towards Greyfriars Church and then down Buccleuch Street, or find the Whitesands and walk along it with the river on your left.

Then:

  1. Cross the Buccleuch Street bridge over the river, to the traffic lights.
  2. Turn right at the traffic lights, onto the Glasgow Road.
  3. Take the first left, onto David Street.
  4. Take the first right onto King Street

Then For Away Fans

  1. Follow King Street but turn left just before the Ice Bowl
  1. Take the next right, which will take you behind the Ice Bowl to the away section of the Rosefield Salvage stand.

Queen of the South’s Season So Far

Queen of the South’s season started in the Betfred Cup and they qualified out of their group as one of the best runners-up after wins over Stranraer, Clyde and Edinburgh City and a defeat to group winners Motherwell.

In the second round, Queens met St Johnstone in Dumfries and were unlucky to go out 4-2 after extra time.

In the Irn-Bru Cup Queens beat Stenhousemuir 3-0 at Ochilview to set up a meeting with Irish side Crusaders and in an exciting game at Palmerston sent the visitors back across the Irish side after a 4-3 defeat.

A trip to Methil in the quarter-finals was as far at The Doonhamers went as East Fife would progress with a 2-0 win.

In the Ladbrokes Championship, Queens have flitted in and out the play off spots thanks largely to the goals of Stephen Dobbie who hit 25 goals by December. Results against fellow play off challengers have been decent with a win over Dundee United, two draws with Ross County and a 5-0 victory over Ayr United, in which Dobbie scored four, who have lead the table for large parts of the campaign.

Queen’s Scottish Cup campaign started in November against Highland League side Formartine United and set up the meeting with Dundee with a 4-1 win at Palmerston.

After the 1-1 draw at Dens Queens lost 2-1 to Dundee at the weekend
