Narrow defeat in Reserve Cup

Dundee fell to a narrow defeat in the Reserve Cup this afternoon against Greenock Morton at Links Park.

Jimmy Boyle’s side included Jesse Curran, Jean Mendy and Darren O’Dea alongside a number of the under 18s side.

An uneventful first half saw the sides go in goalless. Mendy having the best, firing narrowly wide with a shot from inside the area.

After 67 minutes the visitors took the lead when Jack Purdue found the net with a fine strike from outside the area.

Dundee fought back and substitute Cedwyn Scott slotted home after 78 minutes.

Morton hit straight back and within two minutes were back in front. This time a solo run was ended with him putting the ball beyond Sam Jackson to give Morton to winner.

Dundee – Jackson, Curran, Johnston, Bradbury, O’Dea, Jefferies (McGrath), Anderson (Scott), Nelson, Mendy (Henvey), Hornyik, Cunningham.
