Match Preview Airdrieonians – 17/8/24

Dundee vs Airdrieonians

17/8/24

3pm kick-off

Premier Sports Cup

The Scot Foam Stadium

We welcome Airdrieonians to the Scot Foam Stadium on Saturday in the Premier Sports Cup Last 16. Like ourselves, Airdrieonians have played two of their league matches. The Championship side got off to a great start to the season defeating Raith Rovers 1-0, but then lost 0-5 away to Ayr United last Friday.

Rhys McCabe’s side qualified for the knock-out stages of the Premier Sports Cup as one of the best-placed runners up. They finished on 9 points after wins against East Kilbride, Dumbarton and Queen of the South. Their only defeat came against Aberdeen away from home.

We faced Airdrieonians in the same competition last season but in the group stages with the Diamonds winning 1-0 thanks to a late Rhys McCabe penalty.

They finished in fourth position in the Championship last season making the playoffs, but were knocked out by Partick Thistle. They have been busy in the transfer market bringing in 13 new players.
