James McPake confirmed that Jamie Ness will miss this Friday’s match at Queen of the South when he spoke to the broadcast media ahead of the trip to Dumfries.
The manager also told the press that captain Josh Meekings will return to the squad, he said, “It’s a disappointing one with Jamie, still with that niggle from the Cove game. The positive with it is that it is an impact injury rather than a reoccurrence of an injury he has had previously.”
“Jamie will miss this weekend, Josh Meekings is back in the squad, apart from that we are pretty healthy.”
Earlier this week, a number of senior players took part in a closer door match against St. Johnstone which was something that pleased the manager, he said, “It’s been a good week, some senior players played in the game on Monday and it allowed us to get another game for Graham (Dorrans).”
Queen of the South will present another tough test as the squad looks to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Greenock Morton. The manager empathised the need to be more ruthless in both boxes as we head into the weekend’s fixtures, “We know how hard it will be, like Saturday, I think we’ll have a lot of the ball but we need to be better at breaking teams down in the final third. Against Alloa, I was happy with the amount of chances we created. On Saturday we created a lot as well but we need to be more ruthless in both boxes.”
