Manager previews Motherwell

Jim McIntyre spoke to press ahead of this weekend’s match with Motherwell at the Kilmac Stadium at Dens Park.

The manager looked back at the victory over Hearts but insisted focus is firmly on Saturday’s match, he said, “It’s obviously a brilliant result and the players played exceptionally well and handled losing the freak goal well but as far as the rest of the week has been concerned it’s been forgotten about and it’s all about concentrating on the Motherwell game. That’s the way we have to approach it because if we don’t perform the same way we’ll soon find ourselves back at the bottom.”

Wednesday’s win moved Dundee off the foot of the table in the first league game after the winter break, the manager continued, “There is a long long way to go, a lot of work ahead of us so it’s important that we just focus on the next game.”

“The challenge, which we haven’t done this season, is ‘can we put back to back wins together?’. The boys are looking forward to the game. It’s been the case of resting up and getting prepared for Motherwell coming up here.”

Two further additions have joined the squad since Wednesday with Andreas Hadenius and James Horsfield signing on loan until the end of the season, asked what they will bring to the squad, “Flexibility, both can play in a number of positions but good players, Andreas spent a couple of days with us last week, we really liked was we saw in the short period and we thought he could compliment the squad. He’s very strong, 6 foot 2, can play centre back or in the middle of the park equally well.”

“James is a right back who has also played quite a bit in the middle of the park as well, he’s had a loan spell out in Holland where he did exceptionally well and he’s been brought up at Man City where they are known for producing good young players. Technically he’s very good on the ball and we welcome both into the squad which enhances that competition for places.”

Josh Meekings, Jack Hamilton and Andrew Davies are the only injury worries ahead of the match with Darren O’Dea returning from a two match suspension. The club are also awaiting international clearance for Andreas Hadenius.
