Dundee Football Club are excited to announce the signing of talented young winger Marcel Lewis on a loan deal till January 2024, subject to International clearance.
Marcel joins us on loan from English Premier League Side Burnley. The 21-year-old began his youth career with Cambridge United before moving to Chelsea in 2016. He represented Chelsea at Under 18โs and 23 level and was then signed by Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in May 2021. After a year in Belgium, Marcel returned to England with a loan spell at Accrington Stanley. On transfer deadline day 2022 of the summer transfer window Lewis made a permanent switch back to England signing for Burnley. He made his debut for the Clarets in November 2022 in the Carabao Cup against Crawley Town.
Marcel has also been called up to the England Under 20โs squad in the past.
After signing for The Dee Marcel said, โIโm delighted to be here at Dundee and I am really looking forward to getting started. I had my first training session today and met everyone and itโs a great group and I am excited to get started. Charlie Adam at Burnley gave me a phone and said I was coming up to Dundee which I was over the moon about. Charlie told me that the club is a great place to be with great players and a really good set-up. I want to get as many games as I can and pitch in with goals and assists to help the team.โ
Lewis will wear the number 32 jersey and on his signing, Manager Tony Docherty said, โMarcel is a young player that was brought to our attention, he has been at Chelsea and spent time in Belgium. He is a very productive attacking player who likes to drive at defenders. He is also a technically gifted footballer, who has real ability on the ball and will help us be creative in that final third. He has been recommended by Jody Morris and Charlie Adam as an extremely creative player and has been brought in to enhance an already strong squad. Marcel gives us another young hungry player who wants to impress and prove himself in this league and I am delighted we have been able to bring him in.โ
