Lambert double keeps Dee top

Dundee moved clear at the top of the SPFL Development League with another victory at Rugby Park on Tuesday evening.

Jack Lambert found the net twice, including a 93rd minute winner, in the 2-1 win for the young Dundee side.

Only Jesse Curran with first team experience was in the squad which travelled to Kilmarnock and like the first team on Saturday the Dark Blues took the lead very early on.

After just two minutes, Lambert looped a header into the net to put Dundee one up.

Before the break Daniel Scally had the chance to level from the spot after being brought down in the area but Kyle Gourlay tipped the ball round the post to keep Dundee ahead.

Jimmy Boyle’s side held out throughout the 2nd period but when Killie struck through Innes Cameron with 5 minutes remaining it looked like the sides would share the points.

Lambert has other ideas as he worked his way past a couple of defender in the 93rd minute before seeing his shot find the net via a deflection.

It’s been a great start to the season for the Development Dee and they now sit clear at the top of the division with 13 points from 5 matches.

Dundee team – Gourlay, Dryden, Rice, Quigley, Piggott, Moore, Lambert, Curran, Henvey, Anderson, I. Smith.

Subs – Ferrie, Berry, Mooney, J. Smith
