“It’s good to get involved”

Graham Dorrans joined the club on Friday and made his debut against Greenock Morton at the weekend before ever setting foot in the Kilmac Stadium at Dens Park as a Dundee player.

The Scotland international signed late on Friday and following his debut on Saturday he travelled to Dundee this week where he has taken part in a closed door match and trained with his team mates for the first time.

He spoke to the broadcast media ahead of this Friday night’s match away to Queen of the South and said, “It’s good to get involved with the boys. I was in the squad at the weekend without training so it was good to get up on Monday, see the place and get on the training pitch with the boys.”

Graham came played alongside manager James McPake with Livingston and the draw of playing for him was a big factor in his decision to join Dundee, he said, “I’ve been speaking to him through the summer, and I thought it was best for me to come here and get my fitness levels back up, first and foremost, and get games under my belt and start enjoying it again.”

“I missed a lot of football last season and a chunk of the season before which was disappointing. I thought I need to get back playing and this is the best place to do that.”

“It’s no secret we’ve been good mates for a long time. We’ve always kept in touch and we are always speaking. Since I left Rangers we’ve been keeping in touch. I’ve been keeping him up to date and he’s been keeping me up to date and thankfully it’s happened now and I can get my head down and concentrate on getting games in.”

There was interest in Graham from the Scottish top flight as well as clubs down south, Graham said, “There were conversations that happened, from teams in the Premiership and teams in England, nothing came of them and I’m here now and looking to give 100%. I’ve got ambitions to get back to playing at the top. Hopefully we can get Dundee back to the Premiership and see how it goes from there.”
