“It was an easy decision to join”

Ollie Crankshaw only met his Dundee team mates on Thursday morning and despite a disappointing result against Dunfermline on Friday evening his performance as a second half substitute was a bright spark for The Dee.

The on loan Wigan winger spoke to DeeTV following the match and said, “It was a disappointing result for us but on a personal note I’m really pleased to have made my debut. Hopefully I can make an impact on the squad and really kick on from that.”

“As the game went on, I thought we could have nicked something. If we had got that goal it would have been a lot closer. It wasn’t our night but I think if we can put a few wins on the board we will be right up there.”

“I’m happy with the impact when I came on. As a player I’m quite direct and just like to get to that byline and cross the ball. I like to get at defenders with pace and put them on the ropes.”

Ollie said it was an easy decision to head North to Dens, asked how Dundee’s interest came about, he said, “I think they came to one of the games I played in for Wigan 23s. We were playing in the Premier League Cup against Liverpool, we won 3-0 and I did reasonably well and got a goal.”

“I think the interest came after that. I was delighted with the interest and the chance to play first team football because that is my goal in my career. Dundee are a massive club, huge fanbase so I think it will be great for me.”

“It was an easy decision. The stature of the club and the fans. Everything about it drew me to the club.”
