Lee Ashcroft became the club’s first summer signing today when he signed a two year deal.
DeeTV caught up with the central defender who recently left Dunfermline Athletic to get his thoughts on his move to Dens.
Lee said, “It’s something I’ve known about for a while now. Through this tough period the Gaffer was on the phone to me quite a bit and desperate to get me here. He sold the club to me very well so I’m delighted to get it done.”
“I’ve played with Dunfermline for four years so I know the league very well. I know what the club are wanting to achieve here, it’s to get back to the top league and that is what I’m here to try and help them do. The Gaffer has been great and I can’t wait to get started now.”
Like the rest of Scottish football. Lee has had a much different summer to other years. With the football shutdown and government restrictions in place he has had to contend with training alone, he said “It’s been quite a while away from the game now, probably the longest a lot of boys have been away. You’ve had to keep fit yourself. Boys nowadays keep themselves in reasonable shape and want to come back in good shape.”
“It’s been tough but everybody has gone through the same thing. I think I’ve kept myself in reasonable shape and it’s good to get this done now. There is light at the end of the tunnel and I’m looking forward to getting back now.”
