Match Report: Dunfermline Athletic Reserves 1-0 Dundee Reserves
Dundee Reserves suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Dunfermline Athletic Reserves in a closely contested match at Rosyth.
The first half saw few clear-cut chances, with Dundee’s Mohammed and Allan linking up well, creating opportunities that tested the Dunfermline defense. Mohammed’s through ball in the 20th minute allowed Allan to strike, but the keeper saved the shot, and Corrigan’s follow-up was blocked. Allan continued to trouble the defense with a flick-on in the 31st minute, but Dunfermline’s keeper handled it comfortably. Despite some attacking pressure, the half ended goalless, with both teams struggling to find the breakthrough.
Dundee started the second half brightly, but Dunfermline also had moments of danger, forcing keeper Lynch into some important saves. Substitutions in the 69th minute saw Leiper and Mitchell come on for Corrigan and Hunter as Dundee looked for fresh legs to push forward. Chase Scott came close in the 78th minute after a brilliant solo run, but his effort was saved by the Dunfermline keeper.
However, it was Dunfermline who struck late. In the 82nd minute, they broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal to make it 1-0. Dundee tried to respond quickly, with Leiper heading just over from a corner in the 84th minute, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
Despite Dundee’s efforts, they were unable to find an equalizer, and the match ended 1-0 in favor of Dunfermline Athletic Reserves.
