  • Dundee United were formed in 1909 as Dundee Hibernian and changed their name to Dundee United in 1923
  • The first competitive derby between the sides was the first day of the 1917/18 season when The Dee beat Hibs 5-1 at Dens in an Scottish League Eastern Division match
  • The first meeting between the sides after Hibs changed their name to United was on November 25th 1925 at Dens when the drew 0-0 in the Scottish League Division One
  • Dundee and Dundee United first met in the League Cup in 1956 when the Dark Blues won 7-3, spawning the Johnnie Scobie song and legend
  • Dundee and Dundee United met in the final of the League Cup at Dens Park in 1980
  • Dundee have won the last League Cup meeting at Dens in the quarter-final in 1987
  • Dundee and Dundee United were drawn together in League Cup sections three times in a row in the Sixties, four times in total
  • Dundee have won the League Cup three times and United twice
  • Both clubs have played Rangers in competitive fixtures at each other’s stadium; United v Rangers in a League Cup tie at Dens in 1947 and Dundee v Rangers in an SPL match at Tannadice in 1999
  • The last time the sides met, Dundee sealed United’s relegation to the SPFL Championship with a 2-1 win at Dens on May 2nd 2016
