cinch Reserve League

North End Park

Dundee Reserves played their last league game of the cinch reserve campaign today as they hosted Hibs reserves at North End Park. It was a young side made up of players from the club’s development squad that lined up for this fixture.

Hibs had the first chance of the game but Lochhead directed it over the bar with a header. Allan was causing problems for the Hibs defence, first with a strike that the keeper held and then with a shot after a Craik found him, but his shot went over the bar. Hibs looked for an opener having a few half chances but the Dundee defence held firm. It wasn’t a half of many chances and the sides went into the break at 0-0.

The second half started the same way as the first ended with the ball mainly staying in the middle of the park with no chances for either side. In the second half, Mitchell, Scott, Gray and Johnstone all came off the bench replacing Craik, Lochhead, Hunter and Baird. Dundee did have a chance through Mohammed, when he was picked out by Gray but he fired over the bar. With nine minutes to go, Hibs had the best chance of the game with a header which went just over the bar. Three minutes later there were shouts for a penalty when Allan was brought down in the box but the referee waved play on.

It was a match of few chances for either side with the match finishing 0-0. The point sees Dundee Reserves finish the cinch reserve league season in second place on 15 points, four points behind winners Queen’s Park.
