Dundee Reserves were back in action on Tuesday in the cinch Reserve Cup against Dunfermline at Ainslie Park, home of Spartans FC. It was the second fixture in the group stage format of the cinch Reserve Cup. In the first match of the competition, Dundee Reserves drew 2-2 with Dundee United Reserves before winning on penalties where they earned a bonus point.

In the first match against United, a number of first-team players featured for the reserve side, whereas in the second match against Dunfermline, the team was made up of all players from the development squad.

Dundee got off to the best possible start when Euan Mutale opened the scoring after seven minutes and then four minutes later Mutale scored his second goal of the game. There were very few chances in the first half, but Dundee had two chances and took them and went into the break two-nil up.

The second half was much more action-packed with a lot more chances for both sides. Dundee came out after the break looking to add to their lead with chances for Donald and Clark in the first ten minutes. But on the hour mark Dunfermline got themselves back into the match through Jake Sutherland.
