Dundee FC in the Community Trust are delighted to announce significant funding from the Young Start, National Lottery grant. The funding has been received as part of the £732,323 being shared across Scotland, with Dundee FC in the Community Trust receiving £95,624 to be used to support young people to build their confidence, skills and future employment prospects.
In 1893 Dundee Football Club was formed with the community supporting the club ever since. Now Dundee Football Club is there for them giving young people that starting chance in life. The 1893 Community Programme is a two year programme, based at the Kilmac Stadium giving 45 young people a starting chance in life, with the young people gaining knowledge to enhance their employment opportunities and/or access to further education.
Working with partners across the city, the young people will gain knowledge in many areas including; CV & interview techniques, starting a business and money management with support from Community Bank Teams. They will also enjoy physical activity to benefit their physical and mental health. Throughout the programme they will receive 1:1 support from their tutor and have their own graduation event in summer 2021 & 2022.
Further, the Trust have committed to employing a number of young people from the programme on part time and full time contracts for a full calendar year. As the Trust is a living wage employer, the young people will receive the same full benefits as current staff. Whilst the young people are on the programme, they will gain experience and knowledge by attending the community programmes that are currently on offer by the Trust.

“When we received the news in August that the bid was successful everyone connected to the Trust and Club were thrilled. The community have supported the Club for over 127 years and now the Club and Trust is supporting its community. The 1893 community programme will give young people life skills, whilst gaining knowledge by working with local community bank teams, CV and interview skills to prepare them for employment, and working with local entrepreneurs to share knowledge about creating their own business. Along with that, the young people will also have sports in the afternoon to benefit their physical and mental health.
