Development Dee keep run going

The Development Dee continued their fantastic run of form with an impressive 5-3 victory against Motherwell at Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie.

A clinical first half performance which saw Dundee go into the break 5-1 in front. The hosts started the second period well and pulled back two goals but Jimmy Boyle’s side saw the match out for a seventh straight win.

Cedwyn Scott gave Dundee an early lead when he was on hand to turn in Randy Wolters cross. The in form striker double his tally a few minutes later when again Wolters found him the middle and he found the net.

Dundee were in control but a mix up in defence saw Calum Ferrie forced into smoothing a back pass and a free kick was awarded on the six yard line. Motherwell worked it well and Davie Turnbull fired home through a crowded goal line.

Just after the 20 minute mark, Dundee regained their two goal advantage. Craig Wighton’s ball across the face of goal was palmed away but only as far as Jack Lambert who took a touch before adding a third.

Lambert then turned provider as he showed great feet before cutting back for Wighton who fired high into the net to give Dundee a 4-1 lead.

It looked like that would be all the scoring for the first half but there was time for one more. A Motherwell corner saw a Dundee counter attack as Wighton played the ball up to Wolters. The Dutchman sprinted forward from the half way line before cutting onto his right foot and rolling the ball into the net.

Motherwell were sent out early for the second period and with three changes it was clear they would be up for the remainder of the game.

They quickly pulled one back with a fantastic strike from James Scott. He found the top corner from the edge of the box.

Davie Turnbull found the net again when he arrived late in the box to complete the days scoring.

There were chances after that with Wolters coming closest to adding another goal. He saw a fierce effort saved before smashing the rebound back off the post from just inside the area.

In the end the clinical first half was enough to keep the great run going.
