Dee exit Youth Cup

Dundee were knocked out of the SFA Youth Cup by Celtic after a closely contested match at Station Park.

James McPake’s side went in ahead at the break thanks to an own goal but Celtic levelled in the second period before scoring twice late on to seal the win.

The young Dark Blues were in control for the first half and took the lead just after the half hour mark when Josh Mulligan’s cross was turned home by a Celtic defender.

10 minutes into the second half Scott Robertson levelled for the visitors after cutting in from the right hand side.

Dundee found their feet again and an even contest was played out with Celtic goalkeeper Liam Hughes and his Dundee counterpart Harrison Sharp both pulling off fantastic saves.

With nine minutes remaining Celtic found the breakthrough when a corner fell to Michael Sparkes and he smashed home.

Dundee threw everything forward but it was Celtic who would add another from the spot through Robertson.

Dundee starting line up – Sharp, E. Smith, Johnston (Dow), Hornyik (McGrath), Fisher, Robertson, Anderson (J.Smith), Mulligan, Cunningham, Cameron, Meres.

Unused Subs – Kerr, Rodger, Fleming, McLean
