Cowdenbeath’s Season So Far

Cowdenbeath played just one pre season friendly when they faced Queen of the South and they defeated the side two league above them by three goals to two.

Cowdenbeath started their season with a home match against Highland League champions Buckie Thistle in the Betfred Cup and the non-league side gave the Blue Brazil a scare when they look the lead in the fifth minute. However a double from Syme and goals from Muirhead and Connelly were enough to get their season off to a winning start with a 4-2 victory.

However in their next game the Blue Brazil went down 4-1 at Tannadice to Dundee United, meaning they will have to win their last two games against Dundee and Raith for a chance of qualifying, probably in second place as one of the best runners-up

Top Scorers

COWDENBEATH: Syme, Muirhead 2; Connelly 1

DUNDEE: Moussa 2; Hendry, El Bahktaoui 1

Last Meeting

The Dark Blues last faced Cowdenbeath at Dens in the fourth last game of their 2013/14 SPFL Championship winning campaign and with Dundee and Hamilton tied at the top of the table on the same points, they could afford no slip ups against a side who had beaten The Dee in their last two outings.

However goals from Wighton, Boyle (2) and McAlister made it a comfortable win for the home side and with goal difference being so tight at the top of the Championship, the four goal winning margin was a timely boost to Dundee’s promotion and title hopes.
