- Cowdenbeath were formed in 1881 with the merger of two local clubs Cowdenbeath Rangers and Cowdenbeath Thistle
- Cowdenbeath are the oldest surviving club in Fife
- Cowdenbeath moved into Central Park in 1917 and the Dark Blues’ first visit was a Scottish League Eastern Division match on August 29th 1917 which the home side won 5-0
- On the last day of the 1917/18 season Cowdenbeath came to Dens needed a draw to win the Eastern Division but a brace from Tommy Taylor gave The Dee a 2-0 win and the title
- Dundee’s last visit to Central Park was in the SPFL Championship winning season when on February 22nd 2014, goals from Rory McKeown and Greg Stewart gave the Blue Brazil a 2-0 win
- The clubs have met in the League Cup just once before in a first round, two leg match in 1979/80. The Dark Blues won 4-1 at Central Park and then 3-1 at Dens to progress 7-2 on aggregate
- Cowdenbeath avoided dropping out the SPFL in May by beating Lowland League side East Kilbride on penalties in a play-off
- Former Dees Willie Fotheringham, John Blackley, Keith Wright, Colin Cameron and Colin Nish have all managed Cowdenbeath
- Cowdenbeath have won the 2nd tier of the Scottish League on three occasions, the last being 1938/39
- Cowdenbeath were controversially placed back in the 2nd tier, the new B Division when football resumed after the World War II
