Declan McDaid spoke to the press this week ahead of another return to his former club on Saturday.
Last season Declan helped Dundee to three wins and a draw after moving to Dens from Ayr. He told the press “We need to get some wins together and get a run going to get us up the league, and build some momentum.”
“Ayr are always a good team. Their squad always changes every year, they always get good players in and they are a good squad. It’s a hard game down there so we know it is not going to be easy but we will be going there for three points.”
“I like playing against my old teams. I played there last year and scored. It’s good to go back there and try to do well and beat them. Personally if I can score that will be even better.”
Team News
Lee Ashcroft has returned to training after testing positive for Covid and isolating.
The manager also confirmed in the weekly press conference that Alex Jakubiak, Jonathan Afolabi and Osman Sow could all return to the squad.
He said, “Hopefully Jakubiak is back, he’s trained since the end of last week and really well this week. We’ll assess him before the weekend. Afolabi potentially as well and Osman Sow should be back.”
“We need to be cautious and make sure they are ok because what we don’t want to do it rush them back and they break down again.”
