Alloa | Manager pre match quotes

James McPake spoke to the media ahead of Friday’s trip to the Indodrill Stadium where we take on Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Championship

The manager was asked about the news yesterday that a member of the playing squad has tested positive for Covid-19. When asked about it, he said “It is a personal thing now, you forget football when it becomes someone’s health. We put football to one side and the health of that player and his family is more important than anything.”

“That’s what we have said from the start at this football club. We are trying to minimise the chance as much as we can. You can’t guarantee that and we’ve just found that out. It’s our first positive case.”

“We pass our best wishes onto the player and his family. We hope they recover quickly and he gets back to training when he is healthy enough to do that, but in terms of football, it’s someones health so there has to be perspective there.”

“We need to be right and ready to go down there and put on a performance and bring the three points back up the road.”

The three fixtures against Alloa last season were all entertaining encounters, the manager is expecting the same in this Friday’s fixture, he said “The demand is to win every game at this football club and we know that. Alloa are a good team so we need to be right and ready to go down there and put on a performance and bring the three points back up the road.”

“I really like Peter Grant. I like the way he sets his teams up and I have huge respect for him as a manager as well. His teams are good and we had three really good games against them last season and it’s going to be another one. You roll the sleeves up and earn the right to play then we go and do what we have been working on all week and we believe if we do that we’ll come away with three points.”
