“A worthwhile exercise”

Dundee beat Peterhead in our first pre-season outing of the 2020/21 season on Tuesday evening.

Manager James McPake spoke to DeeTV following the match and described the match as a, “Good exercise.” Before continuing, “You want players to get minutes under their belts and you want to get through it without injuries and we got that. We are at the start of our third week so we know it is early. There has been a five and a half month layoff so I think both teams got a lot out of the game in terms of fitness.”

“Quality wise we weren’t quite where we want to be but we have to look back on the time we have been away, the time we have been working and I’m really pleased we got minutes and picked up no injuries so that is a massive positive coming out of that.”

Cammy Kerr, Jordan McGhee, Lee Ashcroft and Finlay Robertson all came through the full 90 minutes, on that the manager said, “It’s a credit to the players for the work they have done throughout the lockdown. The work they have done coming back because it has been different. It’s been challenging even organising games, that’s why we played one between ourselves on Saturday, which a lot of clubs have done. A worthwhile exercise.”
