Mark McGhee spoke to DeeTV after Dundee came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Aberdeen.
The manager said of the match, “It was a game that I hoped we could win but it’s a game that we can look at the performance. We were resilient, we were determined, we played some good stuff, at times, on what is, in essence, a very very difficult pitch for both teams to play the sort of football we imagine we could one day play.”
“I think we thoroughly deserved the point and at the end of the season it could be a huge huge point.”
The players showed good spirit to come from behind twice, something that gave the manager hope for the run-in. he continued, “It’s the thing that gives me hope. A lot of people will look at the six points and say, “That’s it”, but not by any means is that it. They play Celtic next weekend, that’s a difficult game for St. Johnstone. I’m not writing them off, I’d never do that but it’s the hardest game, along with Rangers, that any of us can face in the league.”
“They have a difficult task, we have Dundee United, which is a difficult game but we believe after what we have seen today that we can go there and we can find a performance that can get us the three points. Then we’d be standing here this time next week, three points behind St. Johnstone, if they do lose to Celtic, and it would look a lot different.”
