Livingston | Preview

Mark McGhee has had to wait for his first home match in charge after the midweek call off but he will get the chance this weekend as we take on Livingston at the Kilmac Stadium on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

The teams have met twice before this season. Despite being in control of the match last time out in the City of Discovery, Dundee couldn’t find a way past a resolute Livingston defence and had to settle with a point.

In January however, Livingston took all three points from the match at the Tony Macaroni Stadium with a 2-0 victory.

The new management team have now had just over a week in charge and Max Anderson told the press in the build-up to this weekend’s match that it’s been a positive start.

The midfielder said, “It’s been really positive, I think the players have all taken in what the Gaffer is trying to say. We just have to show it on the pitch now.”

“The preparation for the game has been key, we started that as soon as we found out that game was off. I think we just need to show the manager that we believe in him and I think we should be able to do that tomorrow.”

“It will take time for the players to build a relationship with the manager but it seems to be going quite well.”

Max was one of three academy graduates who started in the match last weekend at Celtic Park. He played alongside Josh Mulligan in midfield and both impressed, Max said of the match, “The game against Celtic, we gave it our all. We were unlucky not to get something out of it and we have to take that positive performance into this game and hopefully get a positive result.”

He was keen to point out the benefit of having experienced players alongside them in the dressing room, he continued, “I think as a young player, new into the environment, you have to do your best every time you step out onto the pitch. Even if I’m not having a great day I will just give my all. It’s a good dressing room here they really push you on and give plenty of good advice.”

“They really do help you on the pitch. You maybe don’t see that from the stands but they are speaking to you, giving you the right advice, calming you down on the pitch when it gets a bit hectic and I think that is key in the development of a player.”
