It will be the second meeting between the sides this month when we travel to Pittodrie this Saturday to take on Aberdeen, kick off 3pm.
At the beginning of the month, The Dons came to Dens and left with a point as Dundee twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw.
Aberdeen were well in the hunt for a top six place at that time but a defeat at home to Ross County the following week meant Jim Goodwin’s side missed out.
That means a bottom six place and a fourth meeting this season with Dundee. The teams have both claimed one victory from the meetings prior to that 2-2 draw. Dundee won the first time out at the Kilmac Stadium with goals from Leigh Griffiths and Luke McCowan while Aberdeen came from behind on Boxing Day take all three points in a 2-1 win at Pittodrie.
Team news
The manager confirmed to the press that there are no fresh injuries concerns.
Dee Archive | Stats
Dundee take on Aberdeen for the 270th time in all competitions this weekend as Mark McGhee looks to claim his first victory as Dundee manager.
Our last three matches have all ended in score draws and this wee sequence is also our longest unbeaten run this year in the League. Of course, we would all like to see this continue but most importantly, we want to see it continue with a win.
So far this season, Dundee and Aberdeen have taken four points off each other which is Dundee’s best points tally against the Dandy Dons since season 2004-05 when we defeated the Dons once and drew twice to remain undefeated against them and claim five points.
If selected, Shaun Byrne will make his 90th appearance for the club.
Our memory match goes back to the last league meeting between the clubs in the 1998-99 season where Steven Boyack and Iain Anderson scored the goals to give the Dee a 2-1 victory at Pittodrie.
