WIGHTON HITS HAT TRICK FOR SCOTLAND

Dundee striker Craig Wighton scored a hat trick this afternoon in Scotland under 17s 3-1 victory over Slovenia.

Craig is out in Slovenia with the young Scots as they take part in a mini-tournament as part of the European Under-17 Championship qualifying.

The first round of qualifying is taking part in Slovenia and Craig gave Scotland the lead against the hosts from the spot in the opening match of the tournament.

He had been fouled in the area and kept his cool to put Scotland ahead just before the half time break. After the break he quickly doubled the lead with his second goal.

Slovenia pulled one back but Craig sealed the victory and completed the hat trick with just under ten minutes remaining.

Scotland take on Wales on Wednesday before completing the run of matches with a game against Hungary on Saturday. The victory over Slovenia has got Scotland off to a superb start when in the tournament which will see the top two sides proceed to the elite round qualifying stage.
