As part of this fabulous 2014 summer of sport in Scotland with the Scottish Open Golf being held this week at Royal Aberdeen Golf Course, the World Cup Finals on our TV screens and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on the horizon, one of the largest sporting events in the world is coming to Tayside! The 40th Ryder Cup Tournament is being held on the magnificent PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles this September.
Ahead of that event the European Tour have kindly agreed to allow Dundee Football Club to host and display the iconic Ryder Cup Trophy at our first match of the new season against English Premier League Champions Manchester City at Dens Park Stadium.
Our plan is to display the trophy at half-time along with the historic Scottish Championship League trophy currently held by Dundee Football Club.
Our grateful thanks go out to Scott Crockett Head of Media Communications for the European Tour and the Ryder Cup. Scott is bringing the trophy back to his beloved Dens Park Stadium and being a true Dee Scott is really looking forward to this unique event.
Tickets for this event are still available from the ticket office at Dens Park Stadium.
