Ryan Bland is next youngster to earn new deal

Dundee Football Club is delighted to announce that Ryan Bland has signed a new contract with the club, committing his future to Dundee until the summer of 2029.

Bland is the latest youngster to extend his stay, joining Charley Oosenbrugh and Ethan Crombie in opting to stay with the Dark Blues for the long-term.

The winger made his first team debut during the Premier Sports Cup group stages this summer and has been on the bench for several William Hill Premiership fixtures.

The 17-year-old scored a late winner for Dundee B in the KDM Evolution Trophy  against Fraserburgh last week, finding the net from a free-kick from distance.

Part of the Dundee FC Performance School at St John’s RC High School, Bland signed his first professional contract with the club last summer.

Ryan Bland said:

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract. I’ve loved my time here since going full-time with the academy, and to get rewarded with a new contract is a great feeling.

“I joined the academy when I was six and came right through, and I’ve had loads of great coaches in that time. I’ve developed so much, I think the performance school was really good for me. I want to keep trying to get games for the first team, that would be brilliant.”

Head of Football Development Scott Robertson added:

“Ryan is a top, top talent. He’s highly skillful, very good technically and it makes a coach’s job easy when you’re working with a player of his quality. He’s getting closer to men’s football now so the challenge is going to keep raising, but the free-kick he scored against Fraserburgh shows the level of quality he’s got.

“It’s really exciting for us as coaches to have that level of player and that the club have committed to him. He’s fantastic to work with.”

Everyone at Dundee Football Club congratulates Ryan on his new contract and wishes him all the best for his time at the club.
