Introduction
Dundee will be looking to get back to winning ways on Wednesday evening, as they host Kilmarnock.
Dundee’s three-game unbeaten run came to an end at the weekend, as they were narrowly beaten by St Mirren.
They’re set to take on a Kilmarnock side that suffered their sixth defeat of the season last time out, as they were beaten 3-0 by Falkirk.

Match Preview
Dundee lost 2-1 at St. Mirren on 24 October, with Bradley Fink’s goal on 74 minutes coming after the home side had scored either side of half-time. Dundee had 56% of the ball and finished with 1.96 xG, a measure of how likely each shot was to be scored, against 1.42 for St. Mirren.
Kilmarnock were beaten 3-0 at Falkirk on the same afternoon, a result that included two own goals. Kilmarnock actually created more than their hosts, with 2.39 xG to Falkirk’s 1.32, but none of their ten shots hit the target.
Both sides head into Wednesday’s game off a defeat in which they created the better chances, and both will want more of their efforts to test the goalkeeper.
Dundee Form Guide
St. Mirren went ahead through Calvin Ramsay on 20 minutes and doubled their lead with a Eseosa Sule header on 56 minutes.
Dundee did most of their attacking after the break, building up 1.76 of their xG in the second half, and Bradley Fink pulled one back on 74 minutes, when he had two shots in the same minute.
Set pieces were a steady source of chances. Dundee won five corners and had a shot from every one of them. Ashley Hay had three attempts in total, adding up to 0.69 xG, but none of them were on target.
Dundee won 97 of the 166 duels in the game. Ryan Astley won nine of his ten defensive duels, while Ethan Hamilton won 15 of his 20 duels and completed 50 of his 53 passes in midfield.
Kilmarnock Form Guide
Kilmarnock lined up in a 4-2-3-1 at Falkirk and shared possession evenly. Cathal McCarthy’s own goal on 29 minutes put them behind, Jacob Murrell headed in from a corner on 38 minutes and George Stanger turned the ball into his own net on 68 minutes.
The chances were there as Tyreece John-Jules had a header worth 0.53 xG on 34 minutes, and Joe Hugill had an effort worth 0.49 in the same minute, while Aaron Tshibola’s shot on 50 minutes was worth 0.57.
Seven of Kilmarnock’s ten shots were blocked, and Falkirk goalkeeper Scott Bain was not asked to make a single save.
Away from the own goal, George Stanger made 15 interceptions and 16 clearances and won seven of his 12 aerial duels. Further forward, Greg Kiltie set up three shots and took six corners.
Dundee v Kilmarnock Key Duels
Corners could decide a lot in this game on Wednesday evening. Dundee had a shot from all five of theirs at St. Mirren, and Ashley Hay headed at goal from one on 65 minutes.
Kilmarnock had shots from five of their seven corners at Falkirk, and George Stanger’s header after a corner on 11 minutes was worth 0.35 xG.
That puts Hay and Stanger at the centre of things. Hay won three of his five aerial duels against St. Mirren and had five touches in the penalty area, while Stanger cleared the ball 16 times at Falkirk.
At the other end, Ryan Astley and his central defensive partner Owen Bevan will face a Kilmarnock attack that created plenty without scoring.
Bevan won 17 of his 23 duels against St. Mirren and Astley 15 of his 19. Tyreece John-Jules, with 0.66 xG from three shots, looks like the main threat for the visitors in this one.
Conclusion
Dundee have the ideal opportunity to get back to winning ways in midweek, as they look to build on a hugely positive start to the 2026/27 Scottish Premiership campaign.
They can move above rivals Dundee United if they better their result on Wednesday.
Kilmarnock have found momentum hard to come by this season, with Killie being 11th in the Scottish top-flight, and just a point clear of the bottom of the table.
