PAUL ON LIVI WIN

Dundee made it four wins from five since Paul Hartley took over to stay the the top of the SPFL Championship with a win over Livingston on Saturday.

The boss was pleased with what he witness as his team took the three points, he said “I thought the players were good today and I thought it was a professional performance in terms of the conditions of the park, but we deserved to win today.”

Agreeing they could have added a few more goals he told the press, “Yes they could’ve, just a bit wasteful in that final third, but in terms of the players I thought they were excellent. We got three points and it’s a difficult place to come. I thought that we didn’t have a failure today. I was pleased but we have to move on, we have to prepare again for Tuesday night.”

While results elsewhere could have had an effect on the title run in, Paul didn’t want to talk about them, choosing to focus on his team. “We just concentrate on what we do, we are not looking at anybody else. We’ve got another tough game on Tuesday night. We’ve got to make sure that we are ready and that we recover properly.”

Happy with a fourth clean sheet out of five the manager attributed that to hard work and increasing fitness levels. “We’ve worked very hard on it in terms of how we want to play and the shape of the team and if we keep a clean sheet we won’t lose a game. The players are getting to understand the way that I want us to play and they are working hard for each other. Fitness levels have improved, you can see it that, they keep going, so we’ve given ourselves a good solid base to start from.

“We’ve got a lot of games coming up. I’ve only been in here 5 weeks so 4 clean sheets out of 5 is pretty impressive and that’s down to the guys and the work they’ve done and they’ve took on board what’s required.”

In agreement that Letheren had little to do Paul told us, “No, he had a quiet afternoon. It’s not always like that so what he did do he did it pretty well. I thought everybody was excellent today and it was a really good team performance.”
