Paul on Killie draw

Dundee started their SPFL 2014/15 campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday and boss Paul Hartley was happy with what he saw from his side, he told us “I was pleased, thought the second half we were excellent. Created numerous chances, just couldn’t finish it but overall I’m pretty pleased with the way the team played.”

Asked if he thought his side should have won, he said, “I think in the balance of the chances, yeah we created enough but I was delighted with the players and the manner that they played in.”

Throughout pre-season the team has been encouraged to pass the ball and that continued into the league action, it was another thing Paul was pleased with, “We kept encouraging them to keep passing the ball, keep it moving, overall I was delighted.”

Paul agreed that there is a bit of a step up from the Championship where the club was last season and the Premiership on the park, “I think there is. I think there is a difference in quality and you’ll get punished quicker if you you make mistakes.”

Next up for Paul and his side is a midweek trip to Inverness, he told us “Difficult game, we’re away, we’ll have to be solid, hard to beat cause we know it’ll be a tough game.”
