McCowan joins Celtic

Dundee Football Club can confirm that midfielder Luke McCowan has left the club and joined Scottish Premiership champions, Celtic Football Club for an undisclosed fee.

Luke came through the ranks at Ayr United making his debut in 2017. In 2021 Luke joined Dundee on an initial two-year deal and has very much been a regular in the squad since he arrived at the club. His first season for the Dark Blues was spent in the Scottish Premiership and in his second season he picked up a Championship winners medal. Luke played an important role in the Championship winning season playing 30 matches and scoring seven goals in the Scottish Championship.

Last season was a special season for Luke as he played a significant role in helping the club finish in the top six of the Scottish Premiership. Luke received much recognition for his fantastic performances and won two of the main awards at the DSA’s end of season awards dinner. He won the Players Player of the Year award and the big award of the night, the Andrew De Vries Player of the Year award. Last season Luke played 41 matches for The Dee scoring 10 goals in all competitions, finishing as the club’s top goal scorer.

During his three years at the club, Luke played 125 competitive matches for Dundee scoring 28 goals and departs the club with the very best wishes from everyone at Dundee Football Club. Luke has been a tremendous player and captain for The Dee, thank you Luke for your fantastic service to Dundee Football Club.
