Manager Paul Hartley spoke to the press following a defeat at Dens to Falkirk on Saturday. Despite to loss, the manager was positive about his teams performance, he said, “I didn’t think there was alot wrong today. They way we went about our business I think we dominated the game, good chances especially first half. They get a goal when we’ve switched off at a set piece. In terms of the players attitude and trying to win the game, I was pleased with that, please with they way we played.
Paul agreed that on another day Dundee could have put the game to bed with the chances they had, “Speaking to Jinky (Assistant manager Ray Farningham), he says that is the best we’ve played against Falkirk this season. In terms of chances in the first half and a few in the second half, but sometimes thats the way it goes. We have to regroup now, a massive game next week for us at Hamilton.”
“Disappointing result but I was pleased with how we performed. I thought the players went about their business, kept taking the ball, on the front foot. We were the team looking to win the game. I’m pleased with they way they performed but I’m disappointed with the result for them.”
“They all wanted the ball. They tried to make something happen. We threw bodies on in the last ten minutes but we didn’t get anything and thats the way it goes. We have to get the players ready again on Monday and make sure all the focus and concentration is on Hamilton next Saturday which is a big game.”
Hamilton returned to the top of the league on Goals scored but could have been a couple of points clear had it not been for a late Cowdenbeath equaliser but Paul wasn’t concerned about results elsewhere, he said, “It wouldn’t have mattered anyway. If Hamilton had won it would still be a massive game next week so it’s a game which we’ll go try and win. We’ll take a fantastic support down there so it’s got the making of a cracking game.”
Jim McAlister left the field following a head knock and the boss said, “We’ll assess him on Monday and see how he’s going to be for next week.”
