MANAGER POST MORTON

“Very good” was Paul Hartley’s initial thought after seeing his team get back to winning ways against Greenock Morton at Dens.

“I thought it was a good performance in terms of creating chances, a good 3 points for us. I thought we played well and started the first 25 minutes with good intention with plenty tempo and plenty width in the game and Nade caused them a lot of problems too.”

Asked if the second goal could have come much quicker the manager agreed but still positive that despite that the goal did come. “Yes but we still got it and another clean sheet. We’ve had 3 clean sheets in the 4 games I’ve been here so we’ve built a good foundation there and solid at the back and we created enough chances to win the game. Overall I was very pleased.”

Talking about Nade, the manager was full of praise for the striker who started his first game under his management. “It was good. He has not played a lot of football so I thought he took the ball in well, thought he was a threat and got a good goal and could have had a couple more, but in terms of his overall play I thought he was excellent today.

“He did well because he is playing for his future like everybody else, so I thought he was excellent. I thought he took the ball in and linked the play, got us up the park and was a real presence for us today.”

Playing for the shirt and their careers is something that Paul feels the team are doing and for the right reasons. “I think it’s always the case when a new manager comes in – they all want to impress. We’ve got boys out of contract so they’re all really looking to impress us so that’s the big thing for us. They’re all playing for their future, it’s like any club and any player. I thought the players’ attitude was fantastic.”
