Main joins the Dark Blues

Dundee Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Curtis Main on a one-and-a-half-year deal, subject to international clearance.

The striker joins The Dee after most recently playing for Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC.

Main has a wealth of experience in the game having played 425 professional matches, scoring 69 goals. He is no stranger to the game in Scotland having played for Motherwell, Aberdeen and St Mirren where he played alongside Joe Shaughnessy and Trevor Carson last season.

The Englishman started his career at Darlington, before moving to Middlesbrough where he played in the English Championship. Curtis had a loan spell at Shrewsbury Town before playing for Doncaster Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Portsmouth where he was part of the side that won promotion to English League One. In 2018 Main moved to Scotland signing for Motherwell and played a big part in getting Motherwell to the Scottish Cup Final, scoring twice in the semi-final against Aberdeen. He then moved to Aberdeen in 2019, then onto Shrewsbury Town before coming back to Scotland with St Mirren where he spent two seasons. At the end of the 22/23 league season, Main decided to move to India and sign for Bengaluru FC.

After signing for The Dee Curtis said, โ€œIt is a great feeling to be back in Scottish Football and I am really looking forward to getting started with Dundee. The manager was a big influence in my decision, Iโ€™ve worked with him in the past, and he knows what he is going to get from me and I know what I am going to get from him. For me, that was a big appeal to get the opportunity to work with him again. I canโ€™t wait to get back out on the pitch in Scotland and to play in front of the Dundee supporters.โ€

On the announcement of Curtis Main, Dundee manager Tony Docherty said, โ€œI am absolutely delighted to bring Curtis to the club. Iโ€™ve got a good relationship with Curtis from my time as Assistant Manager at Aberdeen and I built up a strong bond with him. He has done fantastic work in the Scottish Premiership, he knows the league really well and he brings real quality in the type of striker that I feel the whole team will benefit from. Curtis is also a fantastic professional, I know what he will bring to the club and to the changing room, he has a really strong attitude along with a winning mentality. I must say a massive thanks to Tim and John for getting this deal over the line, as Curtis is a player that I have wanted to bring in right from when I got the job here. I believe Curtis will fit in extremely well with the way we play and I think he is a player that the fans will love.โ€

Welcome to The Dee Curtis!
