Kilmarnock – Fast Facts

  • Kilmarnock joined the Scottish League in 1895 and after winning consecutive Second Division titles were elected to the top flight for the first time in 1899
  • Rugby Park is Kilmarnock’s 5th home ground having previously played matches at The Grange, Holm Quarry, Ward’s Park and the original Rugby Park which was situated nearby in South Hamilton Street
  • Dundee’s first visit to the current Rugby Park was on October 21st 1899 when the home side won 2-1 in front of a crowd of 3000
  • Dundee’s first win at Rugby Park was three years later when they won 2-0 on December 13th 1903 thanks to goals from Sandy Gilligan and Willie White. Dundee would finish as Scottish League runners-up that season
  • Kilmarnock are undefeated in their last six matches against Dundee
  • Dundee’s last win at Rugby Park was the first game of last season when a brace each from Greg Stewart and Rory Loy gave the Dark Blues a convincing 4-0 win
  • Mark O’Hara came of the bench for Kilmarnock in that match and joined Dundee after 88 appearances for Killie
  • Both Dundee and Kilmarnock currently have interim managers in charge with Lee McCulloch at Rugby Park and Neil McCann at Dens
  • Dundee interim manager Neil McCann’s first goal for The Dee was in a 3-0 win over Kilmarnock at Dens on March 26th 1994
  • As a player Neil McCann’s record against Kilmarnock is won 16, drawn 9, lost 8 and goals scored 9
