John Nelms ALS/Macmillan Ice Bucket Challenge

The Ice Bucket Challenge which has swept America has made a splash in the UK in the past week and today it reached Dens Park.

Managing Director John Nelms was nominated by friends back home in the States and a very eager club captain Kevin Thomson, Nicky Riley and Jamie Reid weren’t shy in helping him complete his challenge this morning.

The challenge sees a bucket (or several in this case) of ice water poured over the head of someone nominated on social media.

It originated in the States through the ALS Association who are leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

In the UK, Macmillan Cancer Research have been running their own campaign – you can donate by sending a text with the word ‘ICE’ to 70550 to give £3 to Macmillan.
